Azure Resource Manager QuickStart Templates

This repo contains all currently available Azure Resource Manager templates contributed by the community. A searchable template index is maintained at azure.com.

See the Contribution guide for how to use or contribute to this repo.

Policies for Samples

We will reject PRs or remove samples that contain links to non-Microsoft controlled assets, to avoid the risk of potential domain spoofing or hostile takeover. Examples include S3 buckets, non-Microsoft owned Azure storage accounts or non-Azure git repositories.

To fix this, either use Bicep with modules & file functions, or parameterize links to external content.

Code of Conduct

This project has adopted the Microsoft Open Source Code of Conduct. For more information see the Code of Conduct FAQ or contact [email protected] with any additional questions or comments.

Searching Database…

What is this? This is a large community-contributed collection of Azure Resource Manager (ARM) and Bicep templates for deploying Azure infrastructure, indexed in a searchable template gallery on azure.com.
Is this a tool or just a collection of templates? It's a collection (index) of infrastructure-as-code templates, not a tool or app — each sample is a standalone ARM/Bicep template you copy and deploy yourself.
How do I use one of these templates?Browse or search the template index on azure.com, pick a sample, and deploy it with the Azure CLI, PowerShell, or the Deploy to Azure button typically included with each sample folder.
Do I need an Azure subscription to use these?Yes, since every template deploys real Azure resources, you need an Azure account/subscription and the Azure CLI or PowerShell to deploy.
Are there any restrictions on what a submitted template can link to?Yes, PRs containing links to non-Microsoft-controlled assets (like S3 buckets or external git repos) are rejected or removed to avoid domain spoofing risk.
Are the templates written in JSON ARM or Bicep? Both formats are supported — the repo contains classic ARM JSON templates as well as newer Bicep templates, and the GitHub topics list includes both 'arm-templates' and 'bicep-templates'.
How are samples validated before merging? The repo runs automated CI workflows (ValidateSampleDeployments, test-scripts, validate-samples) to check that submitted templates actually deploy successfully.
