What is this?
This repo is a snapshot of the files that lived in '/mnt/skills' inside Claude's code interpreter sandbox — essentially the skill definitions Claude used internally, captured and shared for reference.
Is this a tool I install, or just an archive of files?
It is just a static archive of files, not something you run or install — it mirrors the contents of a folder from Claude's sandbox at a point in time.
How do I get my own copy of these skills files?
You prompt Claude.ai directly, asking it to zip everything in its '/mnt/skills' folder, then run that prompt to produce your own archive.
Is this still the current source for Claude's skills?
No — Anthropic now maintains an official skills repository, and the files that used to be archived here have moved there; this repo is kept mainly for historical reference.
Why did simonw make this public?
To preserve and share a snapshot of the internal skill files Claude's code interpreter environment used, captured by directly prompting Claude.ai for a zip of its skills folder.
Where did the archived files move to?
They moved into Anthropic's own official repository for Claude skills, which superseded this project's archive.
Can I recreate this archive technique myself?
Yes — just ask Claude.ai to zip everything in its '/mnt/skills' folder and run that exact prompt to get your own copy.
