What is this?Seerr is an open-source media request and discovery manager for Jellyfin, Plex, and Emby — the successor to Overseerr and Jellyseerr for browsing and requesting movies and shows on a media server.
Is it a web app I self-host, or a desktop program? It's a self-hosted web app: Seerr runs as a server (a Dockerfile is included) and everyone uses it from a browser.
How do I get it running?Easiest is Docker via the repo's Dockerfile. Building from source needs Node.js 22.19+ and pnpm 10: pnpm install && pnpm build, then start the server.
What does it actually do day to day for a household?People browse the catalog and request movies or TV shows; Seerr manages those requests, hooks into the Radarr and Sonarr download pipeline (NZB supported), and sends notifications about progress.
Is it free to use?Fully — it is MIT-licensed open source with no paid tier; you host it yourself alongside your media server.
Is the interface available in other languages?Yes — the UI is internationalized: locale files ship with the server build and the app uses FormatJS for translations.
