**Is it an app I install on my phone, or something else?**

It is an Android app you install on your phone. There is also a web version that runs in a Chromium-based browser over USB, without installing anything.

**How do I get it running?**

First install and activate Shizuku, then install Canta, select an app and tap the trash button to uninstall it. Shizuku's activation steps are described in an Android Police guide linked in the README.

**Do I need root or anything else first?**

No root is required, but you need Shizuku installed and activated on the device. Android 9.0 or newer (SDK 28+) is required.

**Are there any risks or install pitfalls?**

Yes. Uninstalling critical system apps can cause a bootloop that requires a factory reset. Some oplus apps resist uninstallation. Android 16 may need the forked version of Shizuku.

**Does it integrate with a debloat list?**

Yes. It integrates with the Universal Debloat List to provide safe recommendations for which apps to remove.

**Can it detect apps I uninstalled before?**

Yes. It detects previously uninstalled apps, even across reinstalls, and has a 'See uninstalled' view.

**Can I use it without installing anything?**

Yes, the web version runs in a Chromium-based browser over USB and needs no installation.

Canta allows you to **uninstall pre-installed or user apps without root**, by leveraging [Shizuku](https://shizuku.rikka.app/).  
It integrates with the [Universal Debloat List](https://github.com/Universal-Debloater-Alliance/universal-android-debloater-next-generation/) to provide safe recommendations.

- ✅ No root required  
- ✅ Detects previously uninstalled apps (even across reinstalls)  
- ✅ Works on Android **9.0+ (SDK 28+)**
- ⚠️ No *permanent* bricking (If you uninstall **critical apps**, you can experience bootloop and have to **factory reset**!)

\* **Some oplus apps** are known to be stubborn and don't allow uninstallations. See [tracking issue](https://github.com/samolego/Canta/issues/338).
