## Questions and answers

Written by GitHub.Locker from the README and the repository; check the README below for details.

**Is it a full Linux distribution, or something else?**

It is a slim Debian container rather than a full distribution, and the same web interface can also be installed on an existing Linux server.

**How do I get it running?**

Run the tiny Docker image with zero configuration; it serves on HTTP 80 and HTTPS 443. Alternatively, install it directly on an existing Linux server using the manual installation guide.

**Do I need Docker?**

Docker is the recommended route, but you can skip it and install directly on an existing Linux server.

**Is it for sysadmins or for AI agents?**

Both. It is pitched at admins who want file managers and persistent terminals, and at AI agents that need files and a shell.

**What are the persistent terminals good for?**

They keep running after you log out, so long-running jobs and agent sessions survive when you disconnect from the web interface.

**How do I move files in and out?**

Drag files from your computer into the interface to upload them, or drop them straight into a terminal. You can also drag files between windows to move or copy them.

**Does it include a file editor?**

Yes, a built-in editor with syntax highlighting and large-file support, plus a built-in media viewer.

# Tuxee - the most convenient Linux for servers and agents.

A tiny Debian Linux container with a superb web interface for files and (persistent!)
terminals. Also available as a standalone web interface for existing Linux servers.

Great for admins, perfect for AI agents.

## Quick start

**Recommended: run the tiny Docker image with zero configuration.**

```sh
docker run -p 80:80 -p 443:443 -e ROOT_PASSWORD='your-password' agent0ai/tuxee
```

The app is available on HTTP 80 and HTTPS 443. Behind Traefik or another HTTPS
proxy, forward to container port **80**—no Tuxee configuration is needed.
See [Docker setup](docs/guide.md#docker) for persistence and alternate host ports.

You can use `ROOT_PASSWORD_FILE` instead of `ROOT_PASSWORD` to provide file path instead of plain value for the default password.

**Or install directly on an existing Linux server:**

```sh
curl -fsSL https://tuxee.agent-zero.ai/install.sh | sudo sh
```
